Boots are the sensible answer in the wet months, but laces are the problem. A boy in P1 cannot tie them, and a boot that is never properly fastened is worse than a shoe.

Getting the size right
Bring him in and we will measure both feet, because one is almost always a little bigger than the other and it is the bigger one that decides the size. Ordering online? Stand him on a sheet of paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, measure between the marks in centimetres and add half a centimetre for growth. Care
Knock the mud off before it dries, then wipe them down and polish once the leather is dry. Keep them out of direct sun and away from a fire when drying, heat is what ruins boots.
