The hearts are small, stitched on, and spread across the lower front pocket rather than plastered over the whole bag. That restraint is deliberate and it is why this one gets through inspection at schools where a bright pink bag would not.
Green, pink, blue and white, each with a word inside it, on a bag that is otherwise completely plain. From a distance it reads as a black school bag. Up close it is hers.
The main compartment takes A4 exercise books lying flat and the front pocket runs the full width for pens and smaller things.

Choosing the size
The bag should sit between the shoulders and the waist, not below the hips. If the bottom of it is banging against the back of his legs when he walks, it is too big. Small for nursery and P1 to P3, medium for P4 to P7, large for secondary and anyone carrying a laptop.
Looking after it
Sponge it down with soapy water and dry it in the shade. Keep it out of the washing machine, it pulls the padding out of shape and it never recovers.
