These are made here, not imported. A local workshop cuts and stitches every one, which is why the kitenge placement is slightly different on each bag. The one you take home will not match the photograph exactly, and that is rather the point of it.
The body is a tan leather with a warm orange cast that goes with almost anything. The front pocket and the top handle are finished in a bright geometric kitenge, and that contrast is what makes people stop and ask where the bag came from.
Inside there is one roomy lined compartment, with a full width zip pocket across the front of the body for the smaller things. The straps are adjustable and stitched through at the stress points, which is where cheaper bags give way first.

A note on the print
Kitenge comes in bolts, and each bag is cut from wherever the workshop happens to be on the roll. Two bags made in the same week will not match. If you want a particular print, or two bags that match for siblings, tell us before you order and we will set the fabric aside.
Looking after it
Wipe the leather with a dry cloth and work in a leather conditioner every few months. Spot clean the kitenge only and do not soak it, the colours are vivid and they will run.
