These are the ones children point at. Navy panels with red mesh across the midfoot, teal on the heel and collar, and yellow lace hardware, which is a lot of colour and entirely the point.
The high cut wraps the ankle, which is worth having on a hard court, and there is a visible cushioning unit in the heel that takes the impact out of landing. The mesh sections through the middle of the shoe let heat out, and after an hour of running that is the difference between a comfortable child and a complaining one.
The midsole is thick moulded EVA with a rubber outsole underneath, so it grips on a polished hall floor as well as on tarmac.

What they are for
PE lessons, sports day, basketball and the weekend. They are not a school shoe and no school here will accept them as one, so treat this as the second pair rather than the only pair.
Sizing
These run true to European sizing. If he is between two sizes take the larger one, a school shoe with a little room lasts the year and a tight one is finished by half term. We will measure him properly in the shop, it takes two minutes and saves an exchange later.
Looking after it
Sponge it down with soapy water and dry it in the shade. Keep it out of the washing machine, it pulls the padding out of shape and it never recovers.
