The elasticated gusset at the sides is what makes a slip-on work rather than fall off. It pulls the collar closed around the ankle and gives as the foot goes in, so the shoe holds without anything to tighten.
The upper is a woven black leather, which breaks up the light and hides scuffs far better than a flat finish. Underneath is a ridged cupsole with a circular tread at the heel.

Getting the size right
Bring him in and we will measure both feet, because one is almost always a little bigger than the other and it is the bigger one that decides the size. Ordering online? Stand him on a sheet of paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, measure between the marks in centimetres and add half a centimetre for growth. Send us that number on WhatsApp and we will tell you what to take.
Care
A damp cloth after school and a proper polish on Sunday evening will keep them looking right until the end of term. If they get soaked, stuff them with newspaper and leave them somewhere shaded to dry slowly.
