Boots make sense for a boy who walks in, particularly between March and May when the stretch of road to the gate is more water than road. The higher cut keeps the worst of it out and the padded collar means the ankle is not rubbed raw by the time he arrives.
It is built on the same last as our lace-up shoes, so if you know his shoe size you already know his boot size. Five eyelets running up the ankle, soft black leather with stitched panels, and a tongue closed most of the way up to keep water from running straight in.
Underneath, the same deep-tread moulded sole with a blue midsole stripe.

Getting the fit right
Measure at the end of the day rather than first thing, feet swell by the afternoon and a shoe fitted at seven in the morning can be tight by three. Leave about half a centimetre between the longest toe and the front of the shoe. Come to the shop and we will check it with him standing up, which is the only way that tells you anything.
Care
Knock the mud off before it dries, then wipe them down and polish once the leather is dry. Keep them out of direct sun and away from a fire when drying, heat is what ruins boots.
